Humble Travel Parks Being TestedHumble Oil & Refining Co.Super Service Station - April 1972 Staff Writer Overnight travel parks are being tested by Humble Oil & Refining Co. to meet the demand from 10 million families who need facilities every night they are on the road. There are an estimated 3.5 million recreational vehicles registered in the U.S., and they are expected to travel 10 billion miles in 1972. Humble has been adding recreational vehicle sanitary facilities at selected company stations with more than 100 now in operation. The company has completed overnight travel parks adjacent to eight of its interstate highway stations in seven states. Others are under construction, and the program will be expanded if results are satisfactory. Each travel park includes hook-ups for water, electricity, and sewer connections, and all have sanitary station facilities. Hot showers, washers and driers, camping equipment, charcoal, ice and a line of basic food and supplies are also available. Fees for travel park services can be charged on the company's credit cards.
